Even though I am a certified teacher of art, I really believe I am more of an artist. There are just some nuances about teaching that have yet to be ingrained in my being, and therefore, I take my roots more in creating and sharing that creativity with those around me.
I aspire to be an inspiration to students, a friend when they need one, but most importantly a good leader and role model. I don't know exactly how I'm going to go about doing that, but I think I'm on the right path.
My art is my own, and while I enjoy watercolor, charcoal, oils, and pastels, I'm quickly learning to love pottery/ceramics and a wide variety of other media. And as long as the tools are available, digital art is no stranger to my life.
I'm learning how to balance art and teaching in a way that is not only practical, but also beneficial to all parties involved in the process. It's been a long road and is by no means even close to over. Being an artist and a teacher is a life long endeavor that only the truly privileged are allowed to endure. The road is a rocky one, but with time and some crayons I'll find my way.
